Congratulations to the new doctor Stefano Luca

On Friday, 27 January 2023, Stefano Luca, OFMCap, a former student at PISAI, defended his doctoral thesis entitled “The ‘integral integration’ between young Catholics and young Muslims: a Franciscan way of re-evangelisation, an innovative category for the current mission of the Church in Italy”, at the Faculty of Missiology of the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. Stefano Luca’s dissertation is set within the missionary horizon of Catholic-Islamic dialogue. A new pastoral category is theorised – ‘Integral Integration’ - which, by interpreting the differences between Catholicism and Islam as a possible ‘theological place’ for contemporary post-modern society, ignites in young people (both Catholics and Muslims) processes capable of regenerating both the faith of young Christians and the different faith of young Muslims. The research also shows, in its last part, the effectiveness of the new theorised category through the narration of the first pastoral experiences - the “Experiences of common life in brotherhood” - that use it. The examining commission was composed of Professors Paolo Trianni (chairman of the commission), Laurent Basanese (thesis moderator) and Ambrogio Bongiovanni (censor). Among those who attended, there was a notable representation of PISAI professors and former students.

PISAI warmly congratulates Stefano on his brilliant achievement.
