The 2022 Georgetown Lecture on Contemporary Islam

On Wednesday 8 June 2022, the sixth Georgetown Lecture on Contemporary Islam, entitled Do
Muslims Today “Call on Mary with Devotion”? was held at the Maurice Borrmans Library of PISAI.
The speaker was Rita George-Tvrtković, professor of theology at Benedictine University, Chicago,
where she is a specialist in Christian-Muslim relations in the Middle Ages and contemporary
interreligious dialogue.

Prof. George-Tvrtković has also been a consultant to the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue since
October 2020 and was in Rome to participate in the Dicastery’s Plenary Assembly on
‘Interreligious Dialogue and Conviviality’.
