Dante and the Good Lessons of Interculturality

Prof. Jason Welle, OFM, Director of Studies at PISAI, recently gave a presentation at the Italian Pavilion of the Dubai Expo 2020. He participated in a panel entitled “Dante and the Good Lessons of Interculturality”, organized by the Italian Cultural Institute in Abu Dhabi and the Embassy of Italy to the United Arab Emirates.

Prof. Ida Zilio-Grandi, an affiliated researcher of PISAI, was the primary organizer of this panel, which included introductory greetings by Maria Ida Gaeta, Secretary General of the National Committee for the Celebration of the Seventh Centenary of the Death of Dante Alighieri, papers by Prof. Wael Farouq, Prof. Angela Maria Nuovo, and Welle’s presentation, “From Dante to the Present Day: Developments in the Islamic-Christian Dialogue in Support of World Peace”.

Expo 2020 Dubai, hosted in 2021 and 2022 due to the pandemic, is the first World Expo ever hosted in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia region. The general theme is “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future” and the expo features participation by 192 countries.
