Etudes Arabes 117

Issue 117 of Etudes Arabes entitled Du ǧihād au jihadisme. Evolution historique et textes has been published.

Some of the texts proposed, with translations parallel with their Arabic texts, allow the connection between the classical doctrine and the new juridical elaborations; others deal with very delicate themes that strike the general sensibility such as the enrolment of children in combat; others, finally, present the response of contemporary Muslim intellectuals to the phenomenon of jihad as understood by terrorist and takfirist groups.

Authors include al-Ḫiršī (d. 1689), Yūsuf al-Qaraḍāwī, Riḍwān al-Sayyid, Hānī b. ‘Alī al-Ṭahrāwī, ‘Alī Muḥammad al-Ḥusayn al-Ṣawā, Ǧamāl al-Bannā (d. 2013) and Abdelilah Belkeziz.
