International Symposium at the University of Misan

Professor Wasim Salman of PISAI participated on 7 December 2021 in an international cultural symposium held at the University of Misan in Iraq entitled ‘The position of religions on violence against women’. The event was organized in collaboration with the Pontifical Institute for Arabic and Islamic Studies and the 'Women Empowerment Unit' of the University of Misan.

The intervention of Prof. Salman (in Arabic) focused on the Christian view of the dignity of women. Other speakers were: Prof. Karima Nour Aissaoui (University Abdelmalek Essaâdi, Marocco); Prof. Hanna Iskandar (Suleiman International University, Turchia), Shaykh Nidham Kreidi (representative of the Sabaean Mandean religion, Misan) and Prof. Ayad Naeem (University of Misan).

The symposium was held under the auspices of the Chancellor of the University of Misan, Prof. Abdul Basit Mohsen, and the supervision of the Dean of the Faculty of Education, prof. Hashim Dakhil Hussein. The event was attended by, among others, the Ambassador of Iraq to the Holy See, Mr. Rahman Farhan Abdullah Al-Ameri. The President of PISAI, prof. Diego Sarrió Cucarella, chaired the Preparatory Commission.
