Congratulations to new doctor Carol Cooke-Eid

On Wednesday 11 September 2024 Carol Cooke-Eid brilliantly defended her doctoral thesis entitled “Dieu en quête des hommes. Une approche de l’appel divin à la lumière des réponses humaines dans les sourates 96 à 112 du Coran selon l’ordre « chronologique » de sa révélation après al-Azhar”, at the Maurice Borrmans Library of the PISAI.

The examining committee was composed of Prof. Mehdi Azaiez, Université Catholique de Louvain, (moderator of the thesis), Prof. Adnane Mokrani, Pontificia Università Gregoriana, and Prof. Ida Zilio-Grandi, Università Ca’ Foscari Venezia. Prof. Wasim Salman, President of PISAI, chaired the defence, which was held in French.

Sister Carol, a former PISAI alumna and guest lecturer, is a Maronite Christian and member of the Deir Mar Musa al-Habashi community, founded by Father Paolo Dall’Oglio, SJ, who was kidnapped in Syria in 2013.
