Participation of Rémi Caucanas in the Conference ‘Global Catholicism and Religious Pluralism’

Rémi Caucanas, a researcher associated with the PISAI, visited our Institute on 16 and 17 May 2024, on the occasion of a conference organised by the Reset Dialogues on Civilizations at Villa Malta, where Georgetown University is represented in Rome. Entitled ‘Global Catholicism and Religious Pluralism’, the event was part of a wider project: V-THEO − Varieties of Religions. Theologies and Practices of Pluralism. Its aim was to bring together for the first time the fifteen or so contributors to the future volume dedicated to Catholicism. Chaired by José Casanova and Peter Phan, both emeriti of Georgetown University, the meeting provided an opportunity for an initial assessment of the various contributions. Participants included Adnane Mokrani, former PISAI professor, and Debora Tonelli representing Georgetown in Rome. Rémi Caucanas offered an address on the White Fathers and Islam, which is the subject of his post-doctorate at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (Belo Horizonte, Brazil).

On the evening of 14 May, his trip to Europe also provided an opportunity to present the book he edited: La paix au Moyen-Orient : quelles implications pour des chrétiens ? (Publications Chemins de dialogue, 2024), some copies of which are available at the PISAI.
