We are happy to announce two recent publications by Aljaž Kranjc, who is pursuing a double doctorate at PISAI and at University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. The two articles, published in open-access journals, reflect the author’s interest in the Qur’anic milieu. The first article – “Medinska konstitucija”: kontekst, prevod in komentar” – seeks to analyze the social aspects of the community in which the Qur’an was born. At the same time, the article provides the first Slovenian translation of the ‘Constitution of Medina’, an important document of early Islamic history.
The second article – “Legenda o Aleksandru: primer sirske apokaliptične literature ob zori islama” – is devoted to the Alexander Legend, a Syriac text from the early 7th century written in the context of the imperial clashes between Byzantines and Sassanid Persians. This text provides valuable insights into Late Antique political theology, historiography and eschatology.
