PISAI joins with the sorrow of the Society of Missionaries of Africa (White Fathers) for the loss of Father Aldo Giannasi, who passed away on Thursday 19 May 2022 in Modena, Italy, at the age of 86, including 65 years of missionary life in Mali, Algeria and Italy.
Aldo Giannasi was born on 28 October 1935 in Frassinoro, in the diocese of Reggio Emilia and Guastalla. He was accepted into the novitiate of the Missionaries of Africa on 27 September 1955 in Maison-Carrée (Algeria). He continued his theological training in Carthage (Tunisia) where he took the missionary oath on 26 June 1959. He was ordained a priest on 30 January 1960 in Frassinoro, before being sent to Rome to study philosophy. After various assignments in Mali and Italy, Father Aldo served at as PISAI librarian from 1996 to 2001.
