From 17 to 19 May 2022, PISAI’s Prof. Mariangela Laviano took part in the ‘Maison de la Sagesse’ seminar of the Institut Catholique de la Mediterranée (ICM, Marseille), which took place in Beirut, Lebanon. Together with the members of the seminar, Prof. Laviano met the various local actors working in the field of interreligious cooperation, including the Adyan Foundation, the Institute of Islamic-Christian Studies of Saint Joseph’s University, the Centre for Muslim-Christian Studies of the University of Balamand, the Mufti of Tripoli and other representatives of the different religious traditions.
Subsequently, on 25 May and 1 June 2022, as part of the collective course “A Church of Women and Men” organised by the Leonian Theological Institute of Anagni, Prof. Laviano gave two lectures entitled “Women in Islam. The Islam of women”. The lectures showed the complexity of the female image in Islam, beyond stereotypes, starting from some figures of Muslim women (from the 8th century to the present day).
