On 8-9 November 2021, Professor Diego Sarrió Cucarella, M.Afr., the President of PISAI, participated as panelist at a conference entitled “The Culture of Encounter: The Future of Intercultural and Interreligious Dialogue”, held at Villa Malta, Rome. Organized by the Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs at Georgetown University and La Civiltà Cattolica on the occasion of the first anniversary of the encyclical Fratelli Tutti, the conference explored the significance of a culture of encounter for the Church and the world.
The program also featured keynote addresses by Cardinal Miguel Ángel Ayuso Guixot, President of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue, and by Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples. Panelists included Dr Sultan Faisal Al-Remeithi, the Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Elders, and Georgetown University Professor John Borelli, who is presently teaching a course at PISAI entitled “Dialogue with Muslims in the Magisterium of the Church”.
