The PISAI is pleased to report the inauguration of the academic year 2021-2022 at the Institut de Formation Islamo-Chrétienne (IFIC) in Bamako, Mali, where several PISAI alumni contribute to the training of future pastoral agents-animators in the field of Christian-Muslim dialogue in Africa.
The new academic year, already the fifteenth since the creation of IFIC, was inaugurated on 4 October 2021, feast of St. Francis of Assisi. This year the Institute welcomes seven new students from Mali, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mozambique, Malawi and Nigeria.
IFIC offers a specialized pastoral training in Islamic Studies and Christian-Muslim relations. The program is based on two axes: an objective presentation of Islam and a pastoral Christian reflection on other religions in general, and on Islam in particular. For some years now, IFIC has also introduced the study of Traditional African Religions in order to help the future pastoral agents-animators to seek and find anchor points on which they can base a sustainable dialogue.
We wish the community of IFIC a successful academic year.
