On the morning of Friday 2 October 2020, the PISAI officially opened the Academic Year 2020-2021 with a solemn inauguration. The event began with the celebration of the Holy Mass in the Church of San Francesco a Ripa, presided by Archbishop Silvano M. Tomasi, C.S., Apostolic Nuncio and member of the Department for the Service of Integral Human Development.
The Maurice Borrmans Library of PISAI hosted the following: in the presence of the entire academic community, the President, Professor Diego Sarrió Cucarella, M.Afr., gave a word of welcome and presentation, followed by a warm online greeting by the Vice Grand Chancellor, Reverend Father Stanley Lubungo, Superior General of Missionaries of Africa. After that the Reverend Father Andrea Mandonico, S.M.A., Vice Postulator of the Cause of Canonization of Charles de Foucauld, delivered the Lectio inauguralis entitled Christianity and Islam: words, deeds, dialogue in the light of Charles de Foucauld, a theme that stimulated interest and questions among those present.
