New book of Michel Younès

The PISAI is pleased to announce the publication of the book Les approches chrétiennes de l’islam: tensions, déplacements et enjeux (Les éditions du Cerf, 2020), by Prof. Michel Younès, PISAI collaborator.
The study deals with the issue of Islam from a Christian point of view, on eight themes: the status of Islam in Christian theological reflection; the Koran; the prophet of Islam; the Muslim faith; rites and practices; the Islamic anthropological vision; the Umma or Muslim community; and finally Islamic-Christian dialogue.
Michel Younès’ work not only presents a wide variety of Christian voices, from St. John Damascene in the eighth century to Mouchir Basile Aoun (born 1966), but also includes a variety of contemporary Muslim positions, from the Iranian Ayatollah Morteza Motahhari (1920-1979) to the Syrian intellectual Muhammad Shahrour (1938-2019).

Michel Younès is professor of theology at the Catholic University of Lyon, where he heads the Centre for the Study of Cultures and Religions. Among his publications: Révélation(s) et parole(s). La science du « kalam » à la jonction du judaïsme, du christianisme et de l’islam (PISAI, 2008), Pour une théologie chrétienne des religions (Desclée De Brouwer, 2012).
