The Pontifical Institute of Arabic and Islamic Studies (PISAI) and the Vatican Library signed on 5 February 2020 an agreement for the deposit of 30 Arabic manuscripts owned by the PISAI at the Vatican Library, which includes among its patrimony a large collection of Arabic manuscripts. The Vatican Library is committed to preserving the PISAI manuscripts in the most appropriate way and to making them available to scholars, both through direct consultation and digital reproductions. The agreement was signed by Prof. Diego Sarrió Cucarella, M.Afr., President of PISAI, and His Eminence José Tolentino Cardinal de Mendonça, Archivist and Librarian of Holy Roman Church.
