On 23-24 July, 2019, Prof. Diego Sarrió Cucarella, M.Afr., President of PISAI, attended the 2019 International Conference on Comparative Theology organized by the Faculty of Theology and Philosophy of the Australian Catholic University (ACU), at their Melbourne Campus. Prof. Sarrió Cucarella gave a paper entitled “The Specter Still Haunting a Christian Theology of Religions: Can Comparative Theology Save Us from Polemics?”. Other keynote speakers at the conference were Prof. Francis X. Clooney, S.J. (Harvard University), Prof. Catherine Corneille (Boston College), Prof. Marianne Moyaert (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam), Dr. Emmanuel Nathan (ACU), Dr. Makoto Sawai (Tenri University) and Dr. Yedusan Remias (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven).
On 2 August 2019, Prof. Sarrió Cucarella was the keynote speaker at the 2019 Abraham Conference Healing Memories, Making History. The Abraham Conference has been gathering in Sydney almost every year since 2002. It brings Jews, Christians and Muslims together to discuss issues of contemporary concern to the members of the three religions. Among the organizers of the Abraham Conference is the Columban Centre for Christian-Muslim Relations directed by PISAI alumnus Rev. Dr. Patrick McInerney. The 2019 edition took place at the Parramatta Mission Fellowship Hall and was moderated by broadcaster Mr. John Cleary.
