The Sultan and the Saint
The documentary film (USA 2106) based on the book by Paul Moses,The Saint and the Sultan: The Crusades, Islam, and Francis of Assisi’s mission of Peace, Doubleday 2009, presents the story of two men of faith, Francis of Assisi and the Sultan al-Malik al-Kāmil who, in a daring meeting, were charmed by each other and ready to learn, each from the other. The screening, in a European preview, will be held on 9th May at the Seraphicum auditorium, in an evening organized by the St Bonaventure Pontifical Faculty of Theology (Seraphicum) in collaboration with PISAI. The film will be followed by a dialogue between two experts: Fr Dariusz Wisniewski, OFMConv (theologian and for a time a missionary in Turkey) and our own prof. Adnane Mokrani (associate professor at PISAI). It will be an occasion open to all who wish to profit by opening themselves to a story that has a heritage and a legacy still to be gathered. Present in the auditorium will be Alex Kronemer (director), Patrick Carolan (Franciscan Action Network) and Fr Mike Lasky, OFMConv (‘Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation Ministry’).
Entrance is free and the film will be screened in its original English with Italian subtitles.
