Passing of H.E. Card. Jean-Louis Tauran

Recalling with affection and nostalgia the bond that linked His Eminence Card. Jean-Louis Tauran to our Institute, the PISAI joins its condolences to those of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue for his death.
Our Institute will never forget his affectionate and encouraging visits since his appointment as President of the PCID in 2007, his meetings with some of us, the ever solicitous sponsorship of our initiatives, in particular our conferences, to which he always sent his own special greeting.
In particular, we recall the opening speech of our academic year 2013-2014 on 6 December 2013, in which he masterfully illustrated three essential characteristics of interreligious dialogue: 1) dialogue as “witness”; 2) witness as “responsibility for the other and for the world”; and 3) dialogue as “respect and friendship”.
May the Lord welcome his servant Jean-Louis Tauran in the joy of paradise.
