A delegation of professors and students from PISAI attended a conference entitled “The Whole is Greater Than Its Parts”: Christian Unity and Interreligious Encounter Today. The conference was part of the ‘World Religions World Church’ program of the Department of Theology at the University of Notre Dame, and was held in Rome from 8 to 10 January 2018.
Aside from the numerous interesting speeches scheduled for the first day, the speakers of PISAI participated in panel discussions dedicated to ecumenism and to Christian-Muslim Relations. In the morning, Bishara Ebeid presented his report “Dialogue and Orthodox Theology: The Importance of Inter-Christian and Inter-Religious Dialogue According to Ignatius IV”, followed in the afternoon by Diego Sarrió Cucarella, “Learning from History: the Legacy of Muslim-Christian Polemics”, and by Adnane Mokrani “What Dialogue offers to Theology: Doing Theology in an Interreligious Context”. The speech by Martino Diez, professor at the Catholic University of Milan and Invited Researcher at PISAI, was on the theme “‘In them and benefits for a term appointed’ (Q. 22:33). A Girardian Perspective on the Origin of Islam.” The first day of works was closed with the keynote address of Cardinal John Onaiyekan, Archbishop of Abuja, Nigeria.
The PISAI and the University of Notre Dame have recently signed a cooperation agreement.
