On Wednesday 13 September, PISAI said farewell to Father Michel Saghbiny OAM, who, after 13 years of teaching, has left his role as professor to return to Lebanon, his country of origin.
After his noviciate in Lebanon and gaining a Licentiate in theology at the catholic University of Lyon, France, Michel began his course of studies at PISAI in 2000, earning the Licentiate in Arabic and Islamic Studies in 2002. In October 2015, he defended his doctoral thesis at PISAI, with the title ‘The Attitudes of Lebanese Muslims towards relations with Christians’. Since 2014, he has taught Arabic language, Islamics and Muslim-Christian Dialogue, also collaborating with the journals Islamochristiana and Etudes Arabes. Between 2009 and 2014, he fulfilled the role of Director of Studies in the Institute. He has now been assigned to take up a new and important assignment at the Antonine University in Baabda, Lebanon.To father Michel we offer the warm wishes and the congratulations of all the friends, professors and staff of PISAI.
