Professor Sajjad RIZVI, Director of the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies at the University of Exeter, UK, will deliver a lecture on Mullā Ṣadrā’s Qur’anic Exegesis on the Phrase lā ikrāha fī al-dīn. Prof. Rizvi works on Islamic intellectual history in the wider Persianate world. His particular interests, which grew from his PhD at Cambridge on the philosophy of Mullā Ṣadrā Shīrāzī (d. c. 1635), lie in post-Avicennan philosophical, theological and mystical traditions. His second main area of interest is Qur’anic exegesis and textual hermeneutics. He is the author of Studies on the Ismailis, London 2014; Mulla Sadra and the Later Islamic Philosophical Tradition, Edinburgh 2013; Mir Damad, Oxford 2013.
