Mgr. Jean-Marc Aveline, Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Marseilles, presents his lecture entitled: Chrétiens et musulmans: la passion du dialogue.
Born in Sidi Bel Abbes, Algeria, in 1958, Jean-Marc Aveline received his education in France before entering the Interdiocesan Seminary of Avignon in 1977. From 1980 he continued his studies in theology and philosophy in Paris, resulting in 2000 in a Doctorate in theology and philosophy. Ordained priest in 1984 in the diocese of Marseilles, in 1986 he began to teach theology, later becoming Director of Studies of the Seminary of Avignon. In 1992 he founded the Institut de Sciences et théologie des religions (ISTR) in Marseilles where he was in charge as Director until 2002. Episcopal Vicar for Permanent Formation and University Research, he was appointed in 2007 as Vicar General of the Diocese of Marseille and in 2013 as auxiliary Bishop. Since 2008 he as been a consultant of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue.
