The PISAI is pleased to announce the publication of Journeying With Muslims, Listening, Praying ad Working Together (Islamic Studies Association, New Delhi 2022). In this booklet, Michael L. Fitzgerald, M.Afr., a prominent figure in contemporary Christian-Muslim dialogue, explains the titles of the suras of the Qur’an, giving extracts in which the key-words of these titles are found. These extracts therefore refer to the Names of God, Old Testament figures as well as non-biblical figures, creatures both fauna and flora, and natural phenomena, and many other aspects of the Qur’an. The booklet was originally conceived as 30 daily Facebook posts for Christians to accompany Muslims observing Ramadan. It follows another booklet Accompanying Ramadan which gives basic information about Islam and Ramadan in particular.
Cardinal Fitzgerald was the Apostolic Nuncio to Egypt and Delegate to the League of Arab States from 2006 until his retirement in 2012. Previously he had served on the Pontifical Council [now Dicastery] for Interreligious Dialogue as Secretary (1987-2002) and then President (2002-2006). He worked at the PISAI from 1968 to 1978, first in the role of lecturer and then as President (1972-1978). Created Cardinal by Pope Francis on 5 October 2019, he currently ministers at the inner-city parish of St Vincent de Paul in Liverpool.
