The solemn inauguration of the Academic Year 2022-2023 took place on the morning of Friday, 14 October 2022, at the Maurice Borrmans Library of the Pontifical Institute for Arabic and Islamic Studies (PISAI). The President of the Institute, Prof. Diego Sarrió Cucarella, M.Afr., gave a brief welcome and address. Following this, Prof. Gianluca Parolin, from the Aga Khan University, offered the lectio inauguralis entitled Dialogue and its semiotic horizons: the Document on Human Brotherhood, Citizenship and Egyptian Constitutional Law.
After a short break the event concluded in the chapel of the Institute with the celebration of the Holy Mass presided by the Rev. Fr. Friedrich Bechina, F.S.O., former Undersecretary of the Congregation for Catholic Education. The PISAI academic community sincerely thanks him for his invaluable service to the Institute during these past years as a member of the Council of Administration and wishes him every success in his future endeavours.
