The latest issue of Etudes Arabes 114 is now available: LA CRISE DU POUVOIR ET L’IMPASSE DE LA DÉMOCRATIE DANS LE MONDE ARABE. The current number deals with a problem that figures prominently in religious and cultural studies, that is, the relationship between religion and the political framework in which it appears and is practiced. This issue of Etudes Arabes presents some texts by Muslim intellectuals who have devoted their attention to the subject, providing original elaborations in their search for an innovative answer. The texts offered in translation, parallel with their Arabic texts, are by Muḥammad Aḥmad Ḥalaf Allāh (1916-1998), Ḥasan Ḥanafī (1935- ), Muḥammad ʻĀbid al-Ğābirī (1935-2010), Naṣr Ḥāmid Abū Zayd (1943-2010), Ğurğ Ṭarābīšī (1939-2016), Ğamāl al-Bannā (1920-2013).
