Students
Students of the
Pontifical Institute for Arabic and Islamic Studies come from all over the world, either lay or religious. In recent times the attendance of

lay people, mostly coming from European countries, grows steadily; this is the real demonstration of the need to better know the
Muslim world, ever closer to us, in order to undertake a open dialogue and a civil way of living together. The religious who attend
PISAI come from various congregations and from different countries, and they too are very much aware of the need for an objective and serious preparation to the interreligious dialogue. Many of our former students work as journalists, managers, teachers, diplomats, specialists of dialogue in various fields of culture, businessmen, always with the reference to the Muslim world.
Full time students in order to obtain academic degrees attend all the courses, do the exercises and sit the examinations required. Occasional
students can enroll in some of the courses, obtaining the pertinent credits/ECTS. Other students who merely attend one or the other courses will receive at the end an Certificate of Attendance.
At the beginning of the academic year two delegates will be elected from among the full time students, to represent their fellow students within the Institute Council.
